Audio morphing Building

Ψ Lab

Audio Morphing

A real, client-side phase vocoder. Stretch time without changing pitch, freeze a moment into an endless pad, run it backward, or smear it into an ambient cloud — an experiment in reshaping the time of a sound.

Working preview — this lab runs but is still being built out. Expect rough edges.

Ψ Morpher

Drop an audio file, or use the built-in sweep. Stretch time without touching pitch, freeze the current moment into an endless pad, reverse it, or smear it into an ambient cloud — all processed live in an AudioWorklet, in your browser.

A real phase vocoder running in an AudioWorklet. Your audio never leaves the browser.

How this is measured
02 Use cases
01

Stretch without the chipmunk

Slow a vocal or a loop down to half speed without dropping the pitch — or speed it up without the squeak.

02

Freeze a moment into a pad

Hold a single instant of a chord or a texture and let it ring forever. Add smear for an ambient cloud.

03

Reverse and reshape

Run a sound backward at pitch, or smear it into a wash — quick sound-design textures from anything you drop in.

03 What makes it different

Ψ Lab is a real phase vocoder running entirely in your browser — no upload, no server. It is an honest experiment: it works, it has rough edges, and heavy stretch will sound "phasey" (the known phase-vocoder artefact), not broken.

Also in Ψ Lab

  • Freeze

Hold one spectral moment as an endless, coherent pad.

  • Smear

Blur frames over time into a Paulstretch-style cloud.

04 Roadmap
Now 01
  • Time-stretch (pitch-preserving)
  • Freeze
  • Reverse
  • Smear
  • Client-side AudioWorklet
Next 02
  • Phase-locking for cleaner extreme stretch
  • Transient preservation
  • Per-region painting
Later 03
  • Per-band time control (freeze the pad, run the hi-hats)
  • Clip-to-clip morphing
  • Export

Where this leads.

Each lab can hand audio off to the others without re-uploading. When you finish an analysis here, the → Lab buttons in the demo chrome carry your audio directly into the next lab’s analysis flow.
